Red Bull is set to lose its Chief Designer Craig Skinner

Red Bull Racing has experienced a significant loss within its technical department as Chief Designer Craig Skinner has left the team just before the start of the new Formula 1 season.

Skinner, who joined Red Bull in 2006 after contributing CFD work through Fluent (now ANSYS Fluent) for Williams and Jordan, steadily rose through the organisation over two decades.

After beginning as a CFD engineer, he became head of that group three years later, then moved into aerodynamics leadership. He was appointed Deputy Head of Aerodynamics in 2014, promoted to Chief Aerodynamicist in 2018, and ultimately became Chief Designer in 2022, working closely with Technical Director Adrian Newey.

During his tenure, Skinner played a major role in shaping several of Red Bull’s championship‑winning cars, contributing to some of the most successful periods in the team’s history.

Red Bull confirmed his departure with an official statement: “After 20 years with the team, Craig Skinner, our Chief Designer, will be leaving the Red Bull Technology team.”

“Craig has been an integral part of our team and its success, and we would like to thank him for his hard work and commitment.”
