As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits, and to have been active in the last thirty days. Patrollers and License reviewers don't have to request this flag.
Good afternoon. I'm an experienced vector artist and this is my second time applying for autopatrolled [1] (my username has been changed since). As you can see in the denied request, I was too new to the platform to be granted such a role. It's been exactly two years since that first attempt and I'd like to request it again for the same reason: updating old or bad SVGs that need cleanup or have historical inaccuracies. In addition, my work has been modified and uploaded by other users in ways such as cropping (File:Flag of the Justicialist Party (square version).svg) or alternate versions (File:Flag of Fuefuki, Yamanashi (no text).svg). Without autopatrolled I can't update or fix those alternate versions by myself, which is a major inconvenience as I would be able to update the original file but not the alternate one. Thank you. Wyndelsore (talk) 18:24, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'll have to check if that Justicialist Party flag is the same or similar to ones that have been deleted. Your edit count is still rather low, but I can keep this open for a while to let that increase organically. Abzeronow (talk) 00:11, 30 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I am working on updating all the versions of the Lion and Sun flag using the modern emblem design so that they adopt the new standardised version. I am the creator and main contributor of the English-language Wikipedia article for the flag, and I am extended-confirmed on there with 679 edits. Autopatrol on Commons would allow me to update the three dozen or so files that still use the old design. I briefly had autopatrol privileges a week ago before they were removed by an administrator who initiated a mass deletion of most of my uploads; the mass deletion discussion page has seen no activity for over half a week, and the administrator in question has not responded. I have also contacted the secretariat of Reza Pahlavi (leader of the Iranian opposition) regarding this flag update. Alternatively, I can provide links to the files that need to be made overwriteable. Thank you. ConflictFan (talk) 13:08, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I have seen and responded to your request. To avoid any potential wheel warring, I've pinged TSC for their input so that both of us would be on the same page. Please be patient as this matter is sorted out. Abzeronow (talk) 04:05, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Abzeronow seems like TSC got back online again but did not respond to the ping. I know that we have to be patient but given the ongoing situation in Iran, I'd like to be able to get the changes out sooner rather than later. Best regards, ConflictFan (talk) 13:25, 28 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@AbzeronowThe files that I want updating aren't the ones that anyone uses. If I wanted, I could just upload the updated files and let someone else deal with the merging issue later. I am just trying to work with the system but I would rather get this done before we are in Tehran. Best regards ConflictFan (talk) 04:57, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
They are all ready, I just wanted to move the existing files to my new, more organised nomenclature. At a distance, there is no visible difference between the old and new version of the emblem. In truth, the so called standardisation that I created is mostly superficial; I just rounded the size of the emblem to a clean number and touched up the design slightly. The goal of that was just to get more attention on that specific Wikipedia Lion and Sun design. I would love to be patient and put a hold on all these Wikipedia things, but my country won't wait. We already have the main flag and emblem updated at least, so that is not a concern. Best regards ConflictFan (talk) 05:28, 1 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to be able to upload an mp3 clip of Joseph Goebbels' February 1943 speech at the Sportpalast. We have a recording of the speech uploaded however it is not the full speech: the most famous line is missing, where Goebbels almost mentions the Holocaust in public. I only have an mp3 file of the clip, so I don't want to re-encode it because that will cause a loss in quality. Thank you. Cagliost (talk) 23:16, 2 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made at least 1,000 useful, non-botlike edits or a large number of justified renaming requests at Commons before they will consider granting the filemover right.
I would like to become a filemover. I've been active in adding various categories to to files in batch and I also sometimes want to add any relevant information to filenames, mainly to prefixes, so it's easier to understand what is pictured - sometimes the filename is just "- panoramio (3254543534).jpg". Hoping this would also improve search results on search engines when looking for something - like a rare place in the world, etc. Thank you. YeraC (talk) 15:03, 8 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I am requesting the filemover right for my bot account, Sakib Bot. My main account MS Sakib already holds filemover rights and is an experienced contributor with over 24,000 uploads. My bot account also has over 50,000 uploads. I actively upload SVG glyphs of open-source fonts (OFL, GPL) using both accounts. Due to the high volume of uploads, I frequently encounter situations where bulk renaming is necessary to correct naming conventions or fix errors. Specific Case: Recently, I uploaded 1,000+ files to Category:Linux Libertine Mono SVG Glyphs. I inadvertently included "Monospaced" in the filenames instead of the standard "Mono".
Current Name: Latin Capital Letter Z in Linux Libertine Monospaced - U+005A.svg
Target Name: Latin Capital Letter Z in Linux Libertine Mono - U+005A.svg
Performing over 1,000 renames via my main account is inefficient and hits API rate limits quickly. I intend to use Sakib Bot to handle this bulk renaming task and similar maintenance tasks for my own uploads in the future. Using the bot account will allow for smoother processing.
@Tausheef Hassan "Mono" implies "Monospaced". However, standard font names usually just state "Mono"; though I missed this detail before uploading. For example, see this: Libertinus Mono. Filenames should be concise and understandable, rather than overly descriptive. ≈ MS Sakib 📩·📝08:06, 21 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
@Inertia6084 Yes, I can easily rename 1,000+ files from my main account using python script and would be perfectly happy to proceed that way. Even if the API rate limit is hit, it is not a major issue; the renaming will continue in the background while I work on other tasks.
I had initially considered using the bot account for this kind of bulk work because it improves efficiency, avoids API limitations, and helps prevent flooding the recent changes. Since my bot already has bulk upload permission, bulk mistakes could also be corrected more easily in bulk. However, if the Filemover right is not granted to the bot, I am fully comfortable proceeding from my main account. ≈ MS Sakib 📩·📝16:11, 2 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, after waiting for more than a month, I have started performing this specific batch rename from my main account. However, the possibility of adding the Filemover right to the bot account could be considered for future needs. ≈ MS Sakib 📩·📝01:40, 3 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes I put wrong names into files I upload, which is annoying because everytime I need to move them, I require to provide an application for it. I've been active here for years now and have uploaded nearly 5000 files. Thank you. ChanisCaucasi (talk) 18:26, 20 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I would to be able to assist users with their renames, and also be able to rename files where there is an error. I was encouraged to apply by another user over on my talk page Thank you. Wolfy13399 (talk) 18:43, 2 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
For a rough advice, do not seek this flag if you have not made about 500 useful edits on Wikimedia Commons unless you associate with any Wikimedia affiliate, or campaigns such as Wiki Loves Earth.
I am a co-organizer for wiki Loves Africa for creatives 2026; a local campaign supporting the participation of creatives in Wiki Loves Africa. I am requesting for event organiser rights for the purpose of supporting the campaign and to be able to effectively manage the campaign. Thank you Meritkosy (talk) 13:17, 2 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I am a Wikimedia contributor with over 10,000 global edits. I am writing to seek the event organizer right on Wikimedia Commons to organize this year's Wiki Love Africa campaign in my community. This right will enable us achieve our activities.
